I missed the wank again, damnit =(

I took a break from House fandom, and I took a break from the show itself at one point for sucking so hard. If S6 is going to more House/Cuddy suck, and there's going to be more ridiculous wank...well, I'll be able to wean myself off LiveJournal permanently, since House fandom is the main reason I still bother logging in. I'll be off writing my House/Wilson/Amber fic (4,500 words in, yay) in the corner here...

Random aside: I realized that, if I were given these two choices:
A) S6 filled with House/Cuddy, followed by S7 filled with canon House/Wilson
B) S6 shoves Cuddy back into the background, and House/Wilson remain just friends and ostensibly heterosexual for the rest of the series
...I would be pick B SO HARD. Without a second thought. D:

I knew I was going to love this show. If House were a nurse who hated doctors instead of a doctor who hates nurses, and had a back issue instead of a leg issue, he'd be Nurse Jackie. It has prescription drug addiction, and teh gay for real. And it passes the Bechdel Test like crazy. So. Much. Winnnn.

I've been meaning to reorganize the files on my computer (it's like a maze at this point), and move stuff I haven't been using much onto my external hard drive. When I was done, I launched Scrivener and opened up the documents I had open before...

...and I realized I deleted my fanfic without putting them on the hard drive =(

I'm not as pissed as I normally would be, because I'm riding a high from working on my comic. But, damn...that House/Wilson/Amber fic of epic proportions I've been working on forever? Not happening now. And I could rewrite "What Doesn't Bend, Breaks"...but I had gotten the first half of the story exactly the way I wanted. I don't even have the earlier draft in OpenOffice format.

I keep looking through my folders, but I know they're gone, because I did a search.

Gyah. I suck.

Huh. I meant to make a post about Time of Your Life (which was so many levels of awesome), but I stumbled upon an unusually sane post about critiques of Joss Whedon's works. There was no "lalalala he's not a feminist and all he does is made of suck" or "lalalala Joss is my master and his work is the perfect paragon of ~superior~ to feminism." So, uh, obligatory post about things I've noticed about Whedon's works that bother me.

Fray came in the mail this afternoon, and ever impatient, I got to reading right away and just finished the book. I have to admit, I kept having nerdgasms over it; it was even better than I thought it would be. And I so didn't see that ending coming. Melaka is no Buffy and I love her for it. (Can't wait for Time of Your Life to arrive and see how the two react to each other!)

Come on Hollywood, there's an awesome movie waiting to happen here - girl killing vampires and flying cars. What more do you need?

Buffy Reboot
Notice how I didn't mention the "without Joss" bit. Because that's irrelevant. I actually find the whole idea of rebooting Buffy now completely offensive on multiple levels. For one, the series ended in 2003 - you don't reboot something that recent, unless it sucked hard the first time around (see: the original Buffy movie, The Hulk). Or you're a greedy piece of trash that decided, "Oh, vampires are popular again!"

Buffy was a fantastic and influential show. Instead of taking a close look at why that was, some greedy pieces of trash decide to ignore its significance and will in all likelihood strip Buffy of whatever made it special, tarnishing the franchise's name in the process. God damn, I can't wait for Hollywood to die; television and film can be so much more. Because coming up with an original thought or hiring quality writers and actors is too hard.

And it's also offensive because Buffy is technically still going. In comic form. But, you know, comics don't count as an art form or even entertainment, silly. Let's just shit on the comics (one of the few big titles high on strong female characters and low on cheesecake), and reboot a story that's still going. Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.

Hopefully, this idea gets no where and dies a quiet death. If there is a Buffy reboot, no, I don't have to watch it. But I still find it wildly offensive. I would have been open to something along the lines of an original vampire slayer, in a different time period. But, no, let's take the laziest, money-grubbing path and expect everyone to like it.

P.S. Was already going to check out Nurse Jackie for Edie Falco. Now that I know what it's about...I have a hard time not seeing myself writing a crossover with House. Oh my god.
